Våld i nära relationer är ofta dolt och sker bakom stängda dörrar. Huskurage bygger på att grannar vågar bry sig när de misstänker att någon far illa i sitt hem. Metoden sprider kunskap om våld och civilkurage och ger konkreta råd om hur du kan agera på ett tryggt och ansvarsfullt sätt.

Munkfors kommun var först i Sverige med att införa Huskurage som policy genom det kommunala bostadsbolaget Munkforsbostäder. I Munkforsbostäders hyreshus finns information om hur du som granne kan agera om du misstänker att någon utsätts för våld.

Huskurage innebär att du som granne kan agera vid misstanke om våld i hemmet. Genom att knacka på, hämta hjälp av fler grannar, ringa polis och att kontakta socialtjänst bidrar du till ökad trygghet och minskad utsatthet i huset eller i grannskapet där du bor.

Huskurage is a method that encourages neighbours to take action if they suspect domestic violence. By showing concern and acting, more people can receive help and violence can be prevented.

Domestic violence often takes place behind closed doors. Huskurage is based on the idea that neighbours should care and act if they suspect that someone is being harmed in their home. The method raises awareness about violence and civil courage, while providing practical guidance on how to act in a safe and responsible way.

Munkfors Municipality was the first municipality in Sweden to introduce Huskurage as a policy through the municipal housing company Munkforsbostäder. Information on how to act if you suspect that someone is being subjected to violence is available in Munkforsbostäder’s apartment buildings.

Huskurage means that you, as a neighbour, can take action if you suspect violence in someone’s home. By knocking on the door, asking other neighbours for help, calling the police or contacting the social services, you can help increase safety and reduce vulnerability in your building or neighbourhood.

Do I have my own designated shelter?

No. You are not assigned to a specific shelter. If shelters need to be prepared and brought into use, you should use the shelter closest to where you are.

When are shelters used?

Shelters are only used during a state of heightened alert or war. If the Government decides that shelters are to be prepared and brought into use, the public will be informed through the responsible authorities and other official communication channels.

How do I find the nearest shelter?

You can search for shelters using the Swedish Civil Defence Agency's shelter map. The map shows the location of shelters and provides information about each one.

What is available inside a shelter?

Once a shelter has been prepared for use, it will provide ventilation, water and toilet facilities. However, food, drinking water and personal supplies are not provided.

What should I bring to a shelter?

If you need to take shelter, it is a good idea to bring essential items for the first period, such as:

water
food that does not require cooking
medication
toiletries and hygiene products
a flashlight
a mobile phone and charger or power bank
warm clothing
identification and keys.

Can I bring my pet?

No. Pets are generally not allowed inside shelters. If possible, you should arrange for your pet to stay in another protected location.

Who is responsible for shelters?

Property owners are responsible for maintaining shelters so they can be prepared for use when needed. A property owner may be a private individual, a municipality or a housing cooperative.

Are there shelters in Munkfors Municipality?

Yes. According to the Swedish Civil Defence Agency's shelter map, there are currently 20 registered shelters in Munkfors Municipality.
